The steering group met for the third and last time. We want to thank the steering group Maijastiina Arvola (EOSC-Nordic/ CSC, Finland), Tim Engels (ENRESSH/ECOOM Antwerp, Belgium), Elisabeth Gadd (INORMS/Loughborough University, UK), Bregt Saenen (European University Association, Belgium), Kata-Riina Valosaari, (Academy of Finland) for their valuable input and commitment!

11 and 17 February 2021

The second set of bootcamps for creating the roadmap was arranged in February 11th and 17th. Bootcamps were held via Zoom and by using Mural platform.

BOOTCAMP 1 focused on the diversity of practices and activities, outputs and actors that guide the evaluation of research and researchers, through e.g. incentives and policies. BOOTCAMP 2 focused on qualitative and quantitative methods and metrics supporting responsible assessment and measurement of research and researchers.

We thank all the participant for lively discussions and a nice atmosphere!

The project steering group met for the second time. The group consist of the following high-profile experts: Maijastiina Arvola (EOSC-Nordic/ CSC, Finland), Tim Engels (ENRESSH/ECOOM Antwerp, Belgium), Elisabeth Gadd (INORMS/Loughborough University, UK), Bregt Saenen (European University Association, Belgium), Kata-Riina Valosaari, (Academy of Finland). In the meeting the profect progress was reviewed. We thank again the steering group members for their valuable input and a fruitfull discussion!

Registeration for the second set of bootcamps is now open until Feb 8th! It is possible to participate in one or both of the bootcamps, which will be geared toward:

  1. BOOTCAMP 1: What should be assessed and measured? Feb 11th, 9-12 CET
  2. BOOTCAMP 2: How should it be assessed and measured? Feb 17th, 9-12 CET

A survey about how current academic assessment systems and infrastructures support evaluating open science practices was launched. The survey is targeted primarily toward individuals at European institutions acting as technicians and/or data collectors in academic assessments. 23 and 30 November 2020

First set of bootcamps was arranged on 23 and 30 Nov. We thank all the participant for lively discussions and a nice atmosphere! The themes were 1) "Getting merits for creating FAIR research data" and 2) "Creating RESPONSIBLE career merit information". Bootcamps were held via Zoom and by using Mural platform.

Janne Pölönen and Henriikka Mustajoki presented the project in the EOSC Governance Symposium 2020, in session “EOSC Secretariat co-creation main outputs and contribution to EOSC”.   • Janne Pölönen: European overview of merit and incentive systems in relation to FAIR data creation.
  • Henriikka Mustajoki: Vision and roadmap for rewards and incentives for research data in research career.

5 October 2020

Over 220 resources were found and characterised by the project working group to create a comprehensive overview of the current role of FAIR data in researcher assessment. The reviewed resources included research papers, project reports, policies, data model and eInfrastructures descriptions, eInfrastructure projects etc.
