Open science is international. Promoting open science is best achieved through international collaboration. Open Science Coordination in Finland participates actively in many open science networks in Europe and globally. Our key international open science activities are currently:
Council of National Open Science Coordination (CoNOSC)
Council of National Open Science Coordination (CoNOSC) was founded in 2019 to promote open science coordination at national level. The objectives and organizational principles of CoNOSC include: helping countries to create, update and coordinate their national open science policies and activities, bringing together individuals and organisations coordinating open science at national level and providing a forum for in depth discussions on opportunities and challenges in coordinating national activities and policies which reflect and incorporate international open science progress. Secretary general Henriikka Mustajoki is CoNOSC Founding member, previous chair and current Board Member.
GRIOS - Global Research Initiative on Open Science
GRIOS aims to review the existing evidence and ongoing research on Open Science and provide stakeholders with in-depth analysis of the state of the art of our knowledge on Open Science. This will enable funders, research organisations, and policymakers to increase the efficiency and maximize the impact of their Open Science strategies. In addition, GRIOS aims to identify important knowledge gaps and federate the global research-on-Open Science communities around a common research programme. GRIOS is focusing on meta-level knowledge, which is currently lacking in the global Open Science community. Secretary General Henriikka Mustajoki is GRIOS co-chair.
European Open Science Cloud (EOSC)
European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is one of the new partnerships supported by the European Commission and the Member States. It aims to realise a web of FAIR data and related services and provides a virtual environment with access to various services supporting open science and the management of the research data lifecycle, from sharing to processing and preserving data. The objective of EOSC is to give the European Union a global lead in research data management and ensure that European scientists reap the full benefits of data-driven science.
Resposible Open Science in Europe (ROSiE)
ROSiE (Responsible Open Science in Europe) was a three-year project (2021-2024) funded by HORIZON2020. Its mission was to co-create with all related stakeholders novel practical tools to foster a responsible open science and citizen science. ROSiE provided customized solutions through an interdisciplinary knowledge hub bound to actively pursue open approaches in science and research, while complying with relevant legal frameworks and ethical standards.
