Short presentations are particularly welcome on topics related to the 2026 winter conference theme “From Open to Operational” and the national expert panels.
Come and present an ongoing open science project or initiative at the 2026 Open Science and Research Winter Conference.
The Open Science and Research Winter Conference will take place on 16–17 November 2026 at the Finnish Meteorological Institute in Helsinki. The programme can also be followed online.
The theme of the winter conference is “From Open to Operational”. The challenge for open science is no longer whether science should be open, but how open science can be put into practice and translated into scientific and societal impact. At the Winter conference, we will dive headfirst into the gap between vision and implementation and explore together how to move from policies to action. Thematic sessions will cover researchers’ perspectives on bottlenecks to openness, delivering on the promise of AI in research, and interoperable open science environments and processes (not forgetting the northern lights).
Presentations welcome on the conference theme and the activities of the expert panels
This year, participants are once again invited to give short presentations (max. 5 minutes) on projects or initiatives related to open science. We particularly welcome talks related to the conference theme, “From Open to Operational”, or to the activities of the national expert panels and working groups.
The short presentations will take place during the winter conference on 16–17 November 2026 at the Finnish Meteorological Institute in Helsinki. Presentations can be given either on site or remotely, although we particularly encourage on-site presentations. We welcome presentations both in English and Finnish.
Presentations should include no more than two slides. Please send the title of your presentation and a preliminary draft of your slides to avointiede@tsv.fi by 1 October.
The conference organising committee from representatives of the organising organisations, will review and assess the proposals and make the final decisions on which presentations will be included in the program.
Applicants will be informed of the decisions by 15 October. Registration for the 2026 winter conference is now open.
