Development of monitoring 2026

This page summarizes the new indicators and key changes as well as provides the implementation schedule for the monitoring of open science and research in 2026. In addition, links to the indicators in workbook format and a detailed presentation given to the Steering Group on December 2, 2024, are provided. (in Finnish only).

    New indicators

    Key changes to the 2024 indicators

    • Indicators that were fully or nearly fully achieved in the 2022 and 2024 monitoring rounds were removed to reduce the workload for respondents.

    Indicators Under Development in Early 2025

    • The National Open Science and Research Steering Group has granted additional time to develop quantitative indicators for research data and a qualitative indicator. Proposals for these indicators will be presented to the Steering Group no later than the third meeting of 2025.

    Implementation in 2026

    In early 2026, the formulation of new monitoring questions will be reviewed in a joint and open workshop.

    Monitoring in 2026 will be carried out according to the schedule outlined in the monitoring model:
