Survey for Citizen Science 2024

Interested in citizen science? Take our survey! 

Have you participated in monitoring the spring migration of birds or in guided oral history collection? Does your organization provide support for citizen science? Have you perhaps been a researcher involved in a citizen science project? Would you be interested in doing some of these activities?

Citizen science is scientific research where citizens actively participate in data collection, interpretation, and evidence-based decision-making. Other terms for citizen science include participatory science, co-research, crowdsourcing, or citizen observation.

The National Open Science and Research Coordination is conducting the Citizen Science Survey for the second time in 2024. The 2021 survey collected information on the current state of citizen science in Finland to create a national recommendation. The aim now is to update the results and assess the impact of the recommendation.

The survey gathers information on the practice of citizen science

By responding to the survey, you contribute valuable information to promote the interaction between science and society and evidence-based decision-making.

The survey is intended for researchers, students, research organization staff, research funders, and both current and future citizen scientists! It takes less than five minutes to complete and does not require any prior knowledge. Responses will be handled anonymously.

Please complete the survey by Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024. One 50-euro gift card to the Tiedekirja.fi bookstore will be raffled among the participants. Participation in the raffle is voluntary.

The survey is conducted by The Citizen Science Support and Services Working Group. The WG is part of the National Coordination of Open Science and Research and the Expert Panel on Open Scholarship
