Proposals for the ECSA2026 Conference are invited by 7 October. The theme of the citizen science conference is “Citizen Science Bridging Center and Periphery.”

The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) invites proposals for presentations, posters, and other contributions for the conference to be held in Oulu, Finland, on 3–6 March 2026. Submissions are welcome in a variety of formats, including panel discussions, roundtables, workshops, posters, and short showcase pitches.

  • Traditional panels can include up to ten papers across two sessions.
  • Roundtables will bring together up to five speakers for open discussion.
  • Workshops are expected to be practical and participatory, and may include performances, exhibitions, or outdoor formats.
  • Posters will be on display throughout the conference, with dedicated sessions for discussion.
  • Showcase pitches give participants the chance to present their projects in a three-minute, props-only format, with the audience selecting the winner.

How to Submit a Proposal

All proposals must be submitted in English through the online system. Required information includes a title, contact details, and two abstracts: a short version (300 characters) and a long version (250 words).

The submission deadline is 7 October 2025, and decisions will be communicated by 22 October 2025. A transfer process will be available for strong proposals not accepted in their original panel.

According to the conference rules, each participant may hold the same role (e.g. convenor, presenter, contributor) no more than twice. Early-career researchers are especially encouraged to submit poster proposals.

For more details and submission forms, please visit the official conference website or contact info@ecsa2026.ngo.
