Anne Sunikka, FOODNUTRI-project and Seliina Päällysaho awarded in the Open Science and Research Winter Conference 2025.
The National Open Science and Research award 2025 was given to Anne Sunikka from Aalto University for diverse and long-term promotion of open science in Aalto University as well as constructive and active participation to open science and research expert panels and working groups especially in the fields of research data and culture of open scholarship.
The Champion of Open Science award 2025 was given to FOODNUTRI-project by The University of Eastern Finland and Savonia University for Applied Sciences. The project has successfully applied open and responsible research practices with sustainable development knowledge production about environmental perspectives in the field of domestic groceries.
The Open Science and Research Expert award 2025 was given to Seliina Päällysaho from Seinäjoki University of Applied Science for community-based, steadfast and multi-lateral expert work in the National Open Science and Research Coordination especially in universities for applied sciences and the field of company collaboration and open science.

The Awards Bring Visibility to Open Science Promotion and Accomplishments
The awards were presented at the Open Science and Research Winter Conference 3 December 2025 organised by the University of Helsinki and The National Open Science and Research Coordination.
The National Open Science Award is awarded to an individual or a research group, who or which has in their research and or teaching work brought positive publicity to open science and or advanced the culture of open scholarship or other open science practices. The Champion of Open Science Award is given to an organization or group which advances the fulfilment of open science practices in Finland, and which provides through their work an example and support for others. The recipients are chosen by the Open Science and Research Steering Group based on open propositions.
The Open Science and Research Expert Award highlights work conducted in the National Open Science and research Expert Panels. The recipients are chosen by the chairs of the expert panels.
